  • Name Mary GOSWILL
    Relationshipwith Teresa Ann GOATHAM
    Born Est 1638
    • Based on date of marriage.
    Baptised
    • A Maria Goswell daughter of Mr Edws Goswell was baptised in Torbryan in 1630, but it would be unsafe to assume it was this Mary - too many parishes in the area including East Ogwell for which the PRs do not survive or are not indexed on FMP or FamilySearch.

Buried 13 Jun 1702  St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Ogwell, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location

I think it was probably this Mary as I have found no other burial which could be hers, and have not come across another Mary who might have been buried in this year (although there could be one from before the records survive)

Thomas and Mary may well have had other children besides the two shown here. Unfortunately the PRs only survive from 1674, and the BT survival is patchy: 1663, 1664, 1667, 1669, 1671, 1672.
In particular I suspect that the Matthew Gotham who had a family in Morchard Bishop was their son. Not only was it a name their son Humphrey gave to one of his sons (and it was not a particularly common name at the time) but Mathew of Morchard Bishop named his sons John, Thomas and Matthew. (see notes on Matthew's page for more about the evidence for this link)
