Land granted by Joan to Robert
    • In 1316 a charter was drawn up for Joan granting an acre of land she had inherited to Robert - I think this was probably a form of marriage settlement:

"Charter of Johanna, daughter of Richard Latere in her virginity, granting to Robert Gotham an acre of land which she had by inheritance from Richard Latere her father in the Manor of Teyngwyk, between the land of William Casse on the East and the land which belonged to John Powa on the West; to have and to hold to said Robert his heirs or assigns 'of my body issuing' for ever, of the chief lords of the fee, 'and if it happen that I the said Johanna die without issue I will grant by me and my heirs or assigns that said Robert his heirs or assigns shall hold the said acre without any condition'. Wits. William David. Osbert, the smith, then reeve. John, the dyer, Junior. William Bissop. William, the miller. Dated at Nyweton Bussel, Wednes. in Morrow of St. Clement the Pope and Martyr, 10. Edw. II."

(from the DRO catalogue entry; I have not yet seen the document itself)
Residence From 29 May 1322  (probably), Newton Abbot, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • "Charter of William Davy granting to Robert de Gotham and Joan his wife a house 26 feet in length and 20 feet in width situated between the tenement of Roger de Fonte on the East and the tenement late of Thomas Davy on the West; to hold after the death of Cristina, wife of Richard Collyng, to said Robert and Joan and their issue of the grantor at a rent of ½d. If Joan should die without issue the house shall revert to the grantor. Wits:- Richard Forester. Roger de Bykeford. Peter Payn. Robert de Lurlegh. John Pistore. (the baker) Dated at Nyweton Abbot, Saturday next before Feast of Pentecost, 15 Edw. II. (1322) Seal. Endorsed, Newton Busshell."
