Looking at 1939 it looked Albert, his wife and their four children. Looking for the youngest there was only one birth to fit, and that gave a mother's maiden name for which there was only one birth, and only one marriage - between the third and fourth children.
Looking at births for the names of the other 3 children (shown in the 1939 register with dobs in 1923, 26 and 27) there were a number born in each of the relevant quarters with the name, but 3 stood out both because they were in Staffordshire and particularly because they had the same mother's maiden name: Downes. Looking at births with surnames Davies, mother's maiden name Downes, from 1912 (when Albert would have been aged 17) to 1932 (when he remarried) there are of course many, but 2 others looked likely as children of Albert: born 1919 and 1921, so fitting neatly with those already known of. Looking for Davies = Downes marriages from 1912 to 1923, all of England and Wales, this one, being in the RD where the first 3 births were registered AND before the first of the likely children of Albert was born.
