    • GRO ref: Mountford, George G q2 1948 aged 69 Stoke RD 9b 419; GRO online index shows middle name as Gotham

His death was announced in the Staffordshire Sentinel on 22 June 1948 (p. 2, col. 8)
"MOUNTFORD. - On June 20th, at 32, Morley-st., Tunstall, George Graham Mountford, aged 71 years. Service in Christ Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment at Tunstall Cemetery. Relatives please accept this, the only intimation. Funeral private. - Inquiries, C. McGough and Sons, Tunstall Ph 84300. C22"
Clearly there are a couple of discrepancies with information known about this George: this George was aged 67, and his middle name was Gotham.  This George's age was wrong in his death registration too, though 69 there, and  Graham is an understandable mistake with the unususal middle name.

There were only two George Mountfords whose deaths were registered in Staffordshire in the second qtr of 1948, both in Stoke RD. The other was 75 year old George Arthur Mountford, so the newspaper announcement does not seem to fit him at all. There were no other George G Mountfords elsewhere in the country, which could fit if the place of death were wrong. It seems fairly safe to assume the announcement was for this George.

Actual church from Staffordshire BMD website.
Married 7 years by the time of the 1911 census with no children, it seems probable that George and Millicent never had any children.
Looking from the 2nd half of 1911 at births of  Mountfords registered with Graceby as the mother's maiden name, there was only one - in 1925. I think it unlikely they were a child of this couple, over twenty years after the marriage and with no other children in that time. Also a 14 year old would most likely have been with her father at the time of the 1939 register. There is no other Mounford = Graceby marriage in the indexes, but this could well be due to the bride being a widow when she married, especially common in the years following WW1.
