      Location from local (Staffs) BMD indexThe 1911 census shows James and Elizabeth to have been married 12 years; with the oldest child in the household then 11 this would imply they were all those of James and Elizabeth. However, this is the only marriage I can find to fit. It's possible that it is chance, another James Lawton married to an Elizabeth Hopwood, and that I can't find the marriage of this couple because Elizabeth married using a different surname, but I think most likely it is this couple and for some reason they lived as man and wife for some years before marrying.
      Possible one of them had some other spouse living.
