    • I am guessing that John was the son of Thomas since Thomas was 'of Rydon' when he died and John's son Thomas was 'of Rydon' when he brought a case to the Court of Chancery.

      Rydon was a small detached part of Wolborough Parish, now there appears to be a single farm in the area.
      It would be good to find out more about the area, whether it might have had several families or just one household there in the past.
      If the latter then it clearly increase the chance that John was Thomas's son. It is possible, of course, that Thomas died childless and another relation took on farming there.
