Notes - (Research):Looking for the marriage of the Eliza Maria who married William Rennels the closest I could find was one indexed as William Rennees to Eliza Maria WALLER, in Monmouthshire in 1868, i.e. in the right time gap (between William's previous wife dying and the 1871 census) and in the county in which he was living in the censuses before and after the marriage. (There were no marriages indexed as of a William Rennels in the period 1867-71 anywhere in the country, nor any in Monmoutshire of any variants or William Reynolds). Looking at the image of the index I think it says Rennels and not Rennees, though it is not clear.
The lack of any others and a likely location point strongly to this being the right marriage. And as further confirmation a 'daughter' with William and Eliza at the time of the 1871 and 1881 censuses is shown as Eliza Ann Waller in 1881.
The censuses consistently show this Eliza (mother, not daughter) as born c. 1841 in Willenhall, Staffordshire. There was no Eliza Maria WALLER born at around this time (I searched Sep Q 1837 - Dec Q 1842) in Staffordshire, nor anywhere else, suggesting she may have been a widow.
Looking for a marriage of an Eliza Maria to a WALLER, between 1854 and 1867 found just one (as shown on this tree). That gave Eliza Maria Byrd NICHOLLS. Looking for a birth of an Eliza Maria NICHOLLS, anywhere in England or Wales, as before 1837-1842, finds just one - a birth registered in 1841 (the most likely year) and in Wolverhampton RD - which includes Willenhall.
Hence it seems safe to assume that this is the Eliza who William Rennels married.
