Minister" This John's marriage record shows that his father was John, a potter. There were baptisms of several John's in the Stoke-on-Trent area at the right time, but only this one had a father who was a potter. In addition, this John gave his first daughter the name Ellen, the name of the mother in this baptism entry, and the family's abode is shown as Chell, where the family were at the time of the 1841 census. His father's wife (relationship assumed) in the 1841 census is shown as Jane, whilst the baptism entry shows John's mother as Ellen. It would appear Ellen died in 1832 and John's
