    Gender Female
    Maiden Name
    • With her mother and siblings at the time of the census it appears to have been recorded as Goohan. Aged 13 in 1861 she was living with a family as a nurse at the time of the census, with her name recorded as Gotham. In 1866 she married as Margaret Gawthorn. That, of course, was the last time she is recorded with her maiden name, but it was recorded when the birth of each of her children was born: on all 5 occasions as Gothan.
With the name only recorded as Gotham when she was present with another family this might seem the least dependable, and yet a grandson and great-grandson were given the name Gotham as a second Christian name!
    Also known as Margaret LOYND

The younger grandson, Frank, was just 5 and at school.
