Birth registration (GRO register copy) shows mother as Lily Gotham, with no father named. The informant is named as S Gotham, occupier.
I don't know who 'S Gotham' could be, if the information is correct, but I don't think there was another Lily whose child Pearl could have been. Lily was with her parents at the time of the 1911 census, her father had since died but the most likely place to have had her child was at home with her mother and siblings. Her mother was Louisa; an 'L' can look like an 'S' and with the informant's name being in the form of a signature rather than entered by the registrar, I wonder if when the GRO copy was made the initial was mis-read.
