    • (Research):Born, married and died as 'Nellie', and recorded as Nellie M in the 1891 census, she was recorded as 'May' in both 1901 and 1911. Hence 'Nellie' seems to have been her formal name, 'May' a pet name / middle name.
      However, while niether maiden names nor pet names were usually recorded in probate calendar entries Nellie was described as  . Also, although described as a married woman probate was granted to her remaining sister, not her husband. Does this with the inclusion of her maiden name indicate she and her husband had separated?
