    • The Sittingbourne, Milton, and District Directory 1908/09 says that the almshouse, at no. 1 East Street, provided rooms for eight poor widows. It was re-built by subscription in 1804, the original donor of the charity being unknown. In 1615 one John Allen left a bequest in his will to provide for repairs to the almshouse.
