- Shown as 'of Liverpool' at the time of his marriage to Susan. When he remarried after her death it was to a French woman, and there is a French marriage record, with more details.
This record names his parents as James Haydock and Mary Thompson, and also gives his place of birth as Liverpool. It also gives his date of birth as 6 August 1854.
Haydock is very much a Lancashire name, lots born there that could have been the one to marry Susan, but only one born in Liverpool
GRO ref: HAYDOCK, James q1 1845 Liverpool RD 20 489; GRO online index shows mother's maiden name as Thomson
i.e. the right mother's maiden name, but nine years too early (and the wrong part of the year).
There seems to be only one Haydock = Thom(p)son marriage likely to be the parents of any Haydock born in Liverpool at this time - and it was a James to a Mary. This seems too much to be coincidence; I believe this James (i.e. the one who married Susan and Aimee) was the one born in 1845. Aimee is said on the marriage record to have been born 1870; I suspect James had removed some years from his age to reduce the age difference. What is strange is that the birth was recorded in a Jan - Mar qtr. People don't usually change the date and month. Maybe his birth was registered late. (If he had been trying to hide it would seem strange he had not altered his name nor those of his parents).
Gender Male Residence 1851 Wrightington, Lancashire, England - With his Haydock grandparents. Shown as born Liverpool, and aged 5, there had been no other birth of James Haydock registered there around the right time, although this James would have been six.
His parents marriage PR entry named his grandfather as another James Haydock, and the grandfather in the Wrightington record was called James.
I suspect he was with his grandparents because his mother had died. I have not found what became of his father, .
