- Date from censuses her marriage PR entry when she married Richard Loynd, where shown as 47 (simply shows as of full age when she first married). Both show her father as James Kershaw, a weaver. Place from censuses which show her as aged 21 (1841) and 30 (1851) when with her father, and 44 (1861), 53 (1871) and 60 (1881) when with husband (to be) Richard Loynd. It seems she may have aged a little when she got together with Richard, presumably to lessen the age gap between them.

Smithy Field is in Littleborough, which seems to adjoin Smallbridge, on the Huddersfield side of Rochdale.
(Another possible baptism is another Betty daughter of James and Mary, father's occupation not given, baptised in Littlbro' Wesleyan Chapel* in 1815, but the family lived in Paddock Head, Huddersfield, so it seems less likely to be this Betsy)
(* according to Ancestry.com; often it is not clear where in a circuit a baptism took place and as all on the 2 facing pages were in Huddersfield I suspect the baptisms may have taken place there)
