I have looked at this family as part of the Go(a)tham One-Name Study as the children of the marriage became the step-children of Samuel Thomas LANE, with two living with them at the time of the 1911 census, possibly more in 1907.
The eldest two were married by the time Emily remarried but the others may have lived with her and Samuel initially. Only Sydney remained living (two had died) and unmarried by 1921; Sydney was not with his step-father Samuel at the time of the census, and probably did not live with Samuel and Samuel's new wife Gladys GOTHAM after they married. None of the family remained in the Plymouth (or Calstock) area, so it is unlikely they were close to Gladys and Samuel.
Although a kind of step (or step step?) mother to the children of William and Emily, Gladys was younger than all but Sydney, so would be very unlikely to have played a motherly role.
