    Notes
    • There is no marriage of a William Northmore to an Ellen (or any similar name) between 1901 and 1907, and William is recorded as single in the 1911 census so I think William and Ellen did not marry.
However, when their daughter was born she was registered as a Northmore with her mother's maiden name as Wood, and she was baptised as the daughter of William Henry and Ellen Northmore.

It seems most likely the relationship ended due to Ellen's death, although there is no death of an Ellen Northmore to fit and no death of an Ellen Wood just after the birth which could explain why William and Ellen did not marry. Perhaps she was already married when she and Ellen got together and they didn't marry to avoid the possible results of being found guilty of bigamy.
Or maybe she was a widow and she and William having left it to late to marry before their daughter was born, and she could then have died in childbirth leaving them with no chance.
