"Arthur Rooke and Katherine Glubb were married, June 1st 97:"
Although the parish is not given on the page, looking at the front of the register names John Edgecomb as Rector from 1639, with his death in 1666. This agrees with the CCEd entry for North Huish rather than Huish.
Marriage License 1 Jun 1697 Exeter, Devon, England
- For a marriage at 'Huish' - Katherine is described as 'of Huish', Arthur as 'of Little Hempston'.
That Katherine might have been of Huish was not a surprise; it is only a few miles south of Great Torrington, where Katherine's mother was from and to where she seems to have returned after the death of Katherine's father.
However, it is clear the marriage actually took place at North Huish - about 45 miles south of Huish, and on the other side of Dartmoor. It is, though, not too far from Littlehempston or from Stokenham, where Katherine had been baptised as her father was Rector.
