    • Percy attested on 6 Jun 1916, and was placed in the army reserve, not being mobilised until 16 Feb 1917. Less than 8 months later he was discharged "being no longer physically fit for war service", although it appears he was seen as possibly recovering his fitness as his discharge also notes "Liable to be sent a Statutory Order on 2-10-18 requiring him to present himself for medical re-examination ...". This is surprising, given that a memo from a doctor at the Lees Court Military Hospital claimed "This man has been a patient of mine, on and off, for the last few years. He suffers from Chronic Asthma, and deformity of the spine. ...". (from his service record)
