  • Name Mary HOBBS
    Relationshipwith Teresa Ann GOATHAM
    Born
    • Looking for a likely Mary Hobbs to have married John Eastle I only found two, one baptised in Charleton and the other in Marldon. Given that the parents of the Marldon one were called Anthony and Margaret, both names given by Mary and John to their children, and Anthony being an unusual name at this time, it seems too much to be coincidence and I'm sure Mary must have been their daughter.

(P indicates Pauper, i.e. register entry not subject to tax. Either Harberton was a particularly impoverished parish at this time or the priest generous in his use of 'P' to help people avoid the tax; of the 29 burials on the page no less than 21 are shown as being of paupers).
