with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Est 1643 - His burial place may suggest he was born as an Issell in South Brent, with baptism unknown due to PRs not surviving and BTs patch survival for the period.
However, I think it was probably coincidence that he moved to South Brent, where there were already Issells / Essells. (Given the concentration of Issells / Eastleys etc. in this area there was almost bound to be some coincidences of members of different brances moving to the same parish).
The reason I think it coincidence is that all the others in South Brent apart from Samuel and his wife were recorded with their surname as Issell or Essell or (on one occasion) Eisell; Samuell was buried with his surname Issley, his wife as Estley i.e. their surname was treated as different.
