with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born - Age at death suggests born about 1754 or 3. This does not quite agree with the suggested baptisms, but is close enough, especially to the earlier of the 2 possible baptisms.

- Two Mary Setterfields were baptised in Minster who could have been this one: one in 1756, the daughter of John and Elizabeth, and the other in 1758, daughter of Thomas and Mary. Mary's marriage record shows she was a minor and her parents consented, but does not name them. With the age of consent then 21 both Marys would have been minors.
It seems likely that the one who did not marry in Minster was the Mary Setterfield who married in Sandwich in 1784, being then of Sandwich. I am researching both families to see if one of the families seems to have moved there. Even if I can't work out which Mary was the right one, it appears the two possible fathers were brothers, and so earlier generations can be found on her paternal side.One of the witnesses was a John Goulder, and Mary of the possible parents Thomas and Mary was born a Goulder, which could suggest that this Mary was their daughter. However, John Goulder was a witness for many marriages in Minster around this time which suggests he was Parish Clerk, and so he could have been a witness for that reason of this marriage and not due to being related to the bride.

Difficult to be sure with quite a common name, but this burial fits well as the burial of this Mary Clark.

The surname Clark is inconveniently common, but there seems to be only one Mary who fits well as my ancestor. It is clear that at the time their were 2 Thomas and Mary Clark(e)s having children on Thanet. They appear to separate neatly, though, into one where the baptisms were at St. John's, and another where after 2 children baptised at St. Laurence's the others were baptised at St. Peter's. Mary is part of this latter family. The marriage of one Thomas and Mary was too late for them to be the parents of the St. John's family, but nearly 6 months before the first child of the other family was born, a very likely gap.
I am therefore confident that (provided I haven't missed a Mary and the one baptised in 1782 is my ancestor) then so are this Thomas and Mary.
