Richord
Set As Default Person -
Name Richord Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Est 1587 - Estimate from date of marriage, and considering estimated dobs of probable children.
Gender Female Died Between 17 5 1640 28 May 1643 St. Pancras’ Church, Widecombe in the Moor, Devon, England
- There are 2 possible burials - one in 1640, the other in 1643. Both appear to be female Richords rather than male Richards, but the 1643 entry is spelt Richawrd. Although only the 1643 entry shows the alias, it is clear that most PR entries for the Hammett alias Cleave family do not include it, and there seem to be no Hammetts in the Parish who were not part of this family. The inclusion of the alias does not, therefore, add weight to the 1643 entry being this Richord.

Family John CLEVE, [Father?], b. Est 1585, d. Bef 1641 (Age ~ 55 years) Married 12 Jun 1613 St. Pancras’ Church, Widecombe in the Moor, Devon, England
- Shows Cleve alias Hamete, John & Richord [blank]
The brides surname was not shown in other marriage entries at the start of 1613.
Unlike some names in Widecombe, both Cleve and Hamete (and other sps. of these names) were uncommon in Widecombe at this time, and I have found no other couple who could be the parents of those shown here at their children.
The fact that John was recorded at marriage as 'Cleve alias Hamete' also suggests a close connection to their supposed children, as both daughters and RIchard were recorded with the alias at marriage, the alias was used in the baptism record for Thomas' daughter and it occurs on numerous occasions in the records of Andrew's family.
