    • Register copy of his will describes him as 'of Davidstock'. The style of D used at this time could be similar to a T in some hands, and I think 'Tavistock' was mis-transcribed from the original will as 'Davidstock' - or it could be that the placename was misheard and wrong in the original. William appears to have been in Southwark when he wrote his will, and many in that area will not have known of Tavistock.
