Richard WHITEHEAD
Set As Default Person -
Name Richard WHITEHEAD Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1819 Bredgar, Kent, England
- Date from the 1841 census, where shown as aged 20, and the 1851 where shown as aged 31.
In Bredgar, with William and Ann who I asume to be his parents, though listed after 2 of their grandchildren.
A Richard married in Bredgar in 1847, shown as son of William, I think it must be this Richard. I can find no other to fit.To add weight to this is the 1851 census. Richard was widowed in 1849 and a child from the marriage died in 1850, but there is a 31 year old widower in Bredgar, shown as born Bredgar. That would seem to confirm the one with William and Ann was the one who married and being son of Willam and born Bredgar I think he can only have been their son.

(Age ~ 66 years) Mother Ann PRIOR, b. Abt 1781, Bredgar, Kent, England
, d. Abt 25 Dec 1847, Bredgar, Kent, England
(Age ~ 66 years) Married 11 Oct 1799 St. Mary and St. Sexburga’s Church, Minster, Sheppey, Kent, England
- This William Whitehead and Ann? - I think the evidence is quite convincing, although both William and Ann were shown as of Minster in Sheppey, and while I they could have been working there I have nothing to confirm this. Just under a year later their first child was baptised back in Stockbury where William was from.
Ann's age at death is consistent with the age suggested by Ann Prior's baptism.
But most convincing is that a number of members of the Prior and especially the Whitehead family married in Minster. In addition, 2 of Williams siblings married 2 of Ann's.
Neither of these couples married at the same time, but a couple who would appear to be Ann Prior's brother John and his bride married on the same day in Minster. They too were shown as of Minster, but their first child, also baptised the following September, was baptised in Bredgar (where the Priors were baptised).
