  	Born to a traveller family, most of his many siblings born in different places. The 1881 census shows Frank's parents and older siblings were living in a tent on the open down in Woodford. From the 1921 census where shown as aged 30 years and 5 months, implying born about Jan 1891; shown as born 12 Jan 1890 in the 1939 register. Although shown as Frank at marriage, in the 1921 census and the 1939 register, there is no birth registration to fit name, place and date (including nothing approximately, and looking for Francis), nor an obvious death - the only possible death registration of a Frank in England or Wales would seem to be in Crewe in 1967). However, 'Amos' was added as a first name (i.e. before Frank) in the 1939 register. No Amos Frank or Frank Amos, but there is a birth and death registration of an Amos SHEEN to fit - birth registered in Wilton RD (which includes Broad Chalke) and death in Marlborough RD (where his wife had died in 1939 and where he was living in 1939). Date in Jan in death registration 19 days earlier than in 1939 register, and both birth and death reg point to him being born in 1889. Unusual that he should have claimed to be younger than he was, given that his wife was older (born 1886). GRO ref: Sheen, Amos q1 1889 Wilton RD 5a 195; GRO online index shows mother's maiden name as Turner Birthplace shown as Broad Chalke Wiltshire when recorded as Frank, with wife Beatrice and their daughter in 1921, and also as Broad Chalke Wiltshire when name given as Amos, and with parents in the 1891 and 1901 censuses. However, shown as Belfast, Ireland when with his wife in 1911.
