John FOX
Set As Default Person -
Name John FOX Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised - ** Possible baptism: **
From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 26 Aug 2019) in registers for Wye:
"John the sonne of John Foxe the xxvth of march [1600]"
However, a John Fox of Wye also married in 1627 to Joane Nethersoll. Although this John was shown as a widower when he married, I don't think he was the one who married Joane as there is no burial of Joan in Wye AND they appeared to go on having children baptised in Wye after this John married Jane (and at the same time John and Jane were having children baptised in Ashford, so it does not appear to be a muddle of Jone and Jane).
Although an Elizabeth Fox of Wye who could be the mother of the John baptised in 1600 left a will that was in 1620, too early to give clues that could distinguish between the two Johns, unless other evidence can be found that it could be combined with.

Notes - (Research):Will - could be this John Fox: Fox John, Ashford 1660 1660 PRC17/71/13a PRC16/265 F/2
I have seen and have a copy of the microfilm images of the register copy (PRC 17). It is consistent with being this John Fox - the John who wrote the will left a wife Jane, sons John, Robert (under 22) and James, and daughters Elizabeth (married), Joane, Jane and Anne. Finding the baptisms of the other children (in bold) and the death of Thomasin would help to confirm the will as that of John, though since at least some of the events would have been during the turbulent civil wars years they may not survive.
This will does nothing to confirm that the Robert, son of this John, was the Robert who subsequently lived in Lenham, nor that this John was the one whose parents were married in Wye.
With Robert being a bricklayer and John a yeoman there is no continuity here, but that could be because of having an older brother.

Family Jane WOOD, d. 1689 Married 28 Sep 1631 St. Michael’s Church, Kingsnorth, Kent, England
- From transcribed data from PRs etc. - tbc
Very few baptism entries in PRs for Ashford between May 1644 and Dec 1648, with lots of blank spaces left, presumably in the hope that the omitted entries would be added later. John and Jane's children mentioned in their wills but for whom no baptisms have been found were presumably baptised during this period.
