  Notes	His mother was unmarried when he was born and in the 1911 census he is recorded as a Bailey, not a Liddell. But he was shown as a "son" of the head of household (George Liddell), in the normal place i.e. the 1st child as the oldest, and there are recorded as being 5 children of the marriage (all still living) and there are only 5 with the parents if Ernest is included. This does rather suggest he was George's son. In 1901 29 year old George was unmarried, living with his parents in Stanley while Elizabeth was with hers in nearby Annfield Plain. The question is, if Ernest was George's son why wouldn't George and Elizabeth have married sooner? Also, there was a larger gap between Ernest and Elsie in age than between their other earlier children, which might suggest that George and Elizabeth were not a couple at this time.
