Without the expence of buying the marriage certificate, the answer can be found in the register of soldier's effects.
Mellor is a north country surname, but Sarah appeared to have remarried in Milton Reg District in 1920, not to have moved up north to live with her husband after the war. With no death registration in the Milton area I guessed that Robert may have died in WW1.
Several with the name (or close enough) died in WW1, but most before Sarah's marriage to a Robert J Mellor. That left the one who died on 25 July 1918.
The register of soliders' effects shows that he died leaving a widow Sarah A.
The HMSO list of soliders who died in the Great War (in database form on Ancestry) shows that this Robert was born in Willaston, Cheshire.
Looking for him in the 1901 and 1911 censuses shows he was born about 1892. As he was single at the time of the 1911 census, looking at marriages shows that no other Robert Mellor married a Sarah between 1911 and 1918, so it would seem reasonably certain that it was this Robert J Mellor who Sarah married.
