  • Name Katherine GOATHAM
    Relationshipwith Teresa Ann GOATHAM
    Born
    • In his will (written in 1681) Edward refers to her inheriting at a certain age (I haven't quite made out - but most likely it refers to 21 though other ages are far from unknown) so I guessed she must have been less than the age referred to in 1681. She was also younger than her sister, who it appears had also not reached this age in 1681. This Catherine would have been 17 in 1681, so that ties in.
Baptised 2 May 1665  St. Martin’s Church, Herne, Kent, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • Date in May unclear in PR (m/f viewed at CCA, 2011), but 2nd in BT
Also appears as 2 in image of PR now on FMP

"Widow Spichelye poor - Spt 1"
No burial for a Katherine Spicely found, but it seems probable this was her. An older Pistell etc. couple were having children around the same time as her parents-in-law, but there seem to be no families around the same time as Daniel and Katherine. Her son William had married in 1720 but was still alive.
Siblings 1 brother, 1 sister and 1 person of an unknown gender
Half-siblings 1 half sister (family of Michael RICHARDSON and Sarah OKENFOLD)
    Patriarch & Matriarch
GOATHAM,   d. Yes, date unknown  (2 x Great Grandfather)
Sarah OKENFOLD,   bur. 6 Feb 1675/76, St. Martin’s Church, Herne, Kent, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location  (Mother)
    Notes
    • (Research):I did have 2 possible husbands for this Catherine, now I know there was another baptised in Herne in 1676 I guess that the Catherine who married in Herne in 1703/4 was this younger one.

"Edward Gotham and Sarah Richardsonne weare married the 22th of Septembar" - under heading '1659'.
It seems probable that the Sarah Richardson who married Edward was a widow since Michael Richardson of Herne died in 1658, three years after he married Edward.

"June: 15. Daniel Pilchly of Catherine Goatham, by a Licence"

The 5 children appear to be children of one couple given the spacing and the first being baptised about 15 months after Daniel and Catherine married - except for one thing. For the first 3 the mother's name is given as Mary. However, there is no marriage of Daniel to a Mary that I can find, and it would be a coincidence if there were another couple that Daniel and Mary had no children before 1691, none after 1694 and only after that do Daniel and Katherine start having children. It seems more likely that Katherine was being mis-recorded as Mary.
