Mary GODDEN, b. Abt 1802, d. Dec Q 1840, The Union Workhouse, Hollingbourne, Kent, England (Age ~ 38 years) (Mother) Notes - The burial of Mercy, who had been living in the Workhouse in Hollingbourne, in Stockbury suggests she was descended from 19th century UK governments Mary nee Grigsby.
I think she was probably a daughter of the Mary who was married to the Richard Whitehead b c.1806 as:
1. Mary appears to have died in the Workhouse in 1840;
2. Three girls I believe to be Mary's daughters were in the Workhouse in 1841 but no other Stockbury Whitehead children were there at this time.
I don't believe she was Richard's daughter as I believe he had been transported by the time she was conceived. The Christian name Mercy may reflect this.
