As well as John and his family (wife and 2 young sons) Ann's brother Walter was also present, as was one servant and 21 lodgers, aged 19-70, but with most in or close to their 20s (9 of the twelve women were aged 19-32, 6 of the nine men aged 19-32). Nearly half the lodgers were Kentish (nine), 5 were born in Ireland, and the other 7 had quite scattered birthplaces, from nearby Middlesex to Scotland and Wales.
