- he probably died between 1881 and 1891 as he is with his 2nd wife and some of their children in the 1881 census, but not with them in 1891, where his 2nd wife is described as a widow (though she is recorded with her first married name of Goatham, which did make me wonder if she had left him);
- the age of this William Collins is consistent with his age as recorded in the censuses
- the registration district is that where the family were living in 1881
