Within about a year her mother was pregnant again but by the time that child, Janet, was born Mabel had left Sheerness and was living in Deal, and registered Janet without a father named. Did Harry realise Priscilla could not be his and hence the relationship ending? When he died Priscilla was not amongst his children named in a newspaper announcement of his death. (It would be interesting to know if she named him as her father when she got married).

  	GRO ref: GOATHAM, Mabel Lily to FENTIMAN, Harry William q2 1908 Faversham RD 2a 1843 Place from GOONS marriage index. Mabel and Harry seem to have parted company by 1920. I did think this separation may have occurred earlier, possibly due to the war causing a longer separation than usual, and the general disruption to life, relationships and emotions. However, Harry is recorded as the father of Priscilla, born in 1919. Not that that means he necessarily was her father, of course. It may be significant that when he died a notice appeared in the Faversham News naming children 'Made, Ted, George and Bert'. No mention of Priscilla, although she was still living.
