    Notes 
    • Although shown as a widower when living with Henry Charrosin in 1881, in the previous census she was shown as unmarried, and in the 1861 census she was with her father, Ray Robinson.

      In 1891 Mary was listed as "servant" in the relationship to head of house column, and as "housekeeper" in the occupation column, but she was listed before the children, and while her daughters were listed as adopted (by Henry), Harry was simply shown as "son" so it looks clear that she had a relationship with Henry and was not just his housekeeper.

      Mary's children who were not also the children of Henry Charrosin may have had different fathers. Willie was born in Maidstone when Mary was living with her father, the others after she moved to Canterbury.
