Father William BASTARD, b. 1751, Stokenham, Devon, England , bur. 21 Feb 1830, St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England (Age ~ 79 years) Mother Jane HEXT, b. Abt 1747, bur. 14 Oct 1834, St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England (Age ~ 87 years) Married 24 Nov 1773 St. Winwaloe’s Church, East Portlemouth, Devon, England - From DFHS CD, PR has more info.
Is this the marriage of the right William? Another married in Stokenham in 1786, to Mary Wakeham. However, the marriage PR entry shows him as 'of Slapton' and whilst this one could have moved it seems more likely he was the one who was of Stokenham when he married.

Family James PEPPERELL, b. Abt 1769, bur. 7 Nov 1849, St. Clement’s Church, Townstal, Dartmouth, Devon, England (Age ~ 80 years) Married 18 Sep 1798 St. Peter’s Church, Buckland tout Saints, Devon, England - From Loddiswell PR entry (image on DFHS website, members' section)
Shows James was a mariner of Stokenham, Elizabeth of Buckland Tout Saints. Shows 'Married in this Chapel' just after the reference to Elizabeth being of Buckland Tout Saints, whilst most entries showed 'in this Church'. It is clear from the baptism register that events at Buckland at this time were recorded in Loddiswell PRs, Buckland Tout Saints being a chapelry in Loddiswell Parish at this time.
The witnesses were shown as Robert Gardner and Wm Southwood. (Most marriages at this time were witnessed by Robert Popplestone who was probably the parish clerk, so Robert Gardner and William Southwood were probably both close friends or family)
Although there had been a number of Pepperell events in Dartmouth in earlier centuries, there had been none in the town for some time when a Roger married in 1771, and he did not appear to have a son James baptised in Dartmouth who could be this James.
