- There weren't too many Martha Donoghue (Don(a/o)h(ue/ugh) etc), but the one living in Poplar at the time of all censues 1841 - 1881 is shown as not born Middlesex ('41), born Kent ('51), Deal ('61 and '71), but Maidstone ('81) i.e. the first 4 censuses agree but the last differs (though of course it is consistent with the first 2). It seems most likely that Deal is correct, both because there are 2 entries showing it and they are earlier. By 1881 Martha may have suffered dementia or, although she was the head of the household, her son Thomas (the only other person in the household) may have given the information and got it wrong.
Baptised 22 Apr 1804 St. Leonard’s Church, Deal, Kent, England - Deal PRs show the bapt of a Martha, d of Robert and Martha Hyde, 22 April, 1804. I believe this should this say Robert and Ann. Not only have I come across no other evidence of there being a couple Robert and Martha in Deal at this time, but a Martha Donoghue (married name) was the informant for Robert's death (present at it). Tracing this Martha seems to show she was one born in Deal c 1804.
If Robert had died in Deal it could reasonably have been co-incidence, but as Martha then lived in Poplar and Robert in Stepney I'm pretty sure she was present at his death as his daughter.

Date an estimate based on date of banns; place based on banns which showed both were of this parish.
However, there seems to be no entry for this marriage in the marriage register (not just from index, but browsed the register, checked from 15th Dec 1833, the date of the last reading to end of the following March). Maybe there was an obstacle and they couldn't, or they just didn't bother (for some reason Martha's brother John did not marry his 'wife') or (I think most likely) perhaps a marriage did follow the banns but the priest forgot to enter it in the register. There was often more than one on a given day at this church, so forgetting one would probably not have been difficult.
Whoever in the family provided the census data seems to have been very approximate - ages of children seem quite variable. I have found some birth registration refs that could be theirs, haven't checked censuses for other children with the same name / born Poplar RD.
