  	Probably between 1851 and 1861, as with a son in 1851 but not in 1861. Not the Eleanor whose death was registered in 1859 as that was a 66 year old wife of Joseph Emmerson, blacksmith. There does not seem to be a death registered of an Ele(a)nor Em(m)erson who could be this one between 1851 and 1881. Her name was recorded in the 1851 census as Ellen - maybe her death was registered as Ellen? Not found any real possibilities. GRO ref: Emmerson, Ellen q1 1854 Sunderland RD 10a 224 BUT aged 5 at dth (GRO online index) and (if she was still alive at the time of the 1861 census, although not yet found in it) GRO ref: Emmerson, Ellen q3 1861 Chester le S. 10a 201 BUT aged 0 at dth (GRO online index) - so these two can be ruled out from ages. Could have been recorded as Helen(a) but not found any likely. Did she remarry?
