Name Ann MADDAFORD Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1710 - From age recorded in burial register
Baptised 21 Jan 1712/13 St. Bridget’s Church, Bridestowe, Devon, England - From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 22 Nov 2014)
There were baptisms of Ann Maddafords in Bridestowe in 1712, 1718 and 1720, all daughters of 'John and Elizabeth'. A burial of an Ann in 1718/19 was probably the Ann baptised in 1718. That leaves the 1712 and 1720 baptisms. Would a couple have named a daughter Ann in 1720 if they had had one they'd given the name to in 1712 still living? Although two children being given the same Christian name is far from unknown most if not all examples I know of are at an earlier date than this.
Was there more than one couple?
Looking at all the baptisms of 'John and Elizabeth' in Bridestowe around this time it appears clear that there were two couples with these names. There is more than one instance of a gap of less than 9 months between baptisms. So I think it safe to assume that the 1712 baptism, closest in date to the dob suggested by the age given at burial, was this Ann.
(Although I say there were 3 in Bridestowe 1712-1718, they were the only baptisms of an Ann Maddaford in Devon 1710-1720 found by a search on FMP on 22 Nov 2014, when most parishes were indexed)
Gender Female Buried 7 Jul 1797 St. Bridget’s Church, Bridestowe, Devon, England - "Anne Gotham was buried July 7th Aged 87" (another version of register shows aged 71; this is age of person buried next in both registers, I think it was copied accidentally into the register where Anne shown as aged 71)

Father John MADDAFORD, d. Yes, date unknown Mother Elizabeth, d. Yes, date unknown Married - I would hope to research this family a little, ideally to add dates to John and Elizabeth and the siblings of Ann. However, since it appears two John and Elizabeth Maddafords were having children in Bridestowe at the same time I may be limited by the extent to which I can disentangle them.
