Siblings 5 brothers and 1 sister Patriarch & Matriarch William GOTHAM, b. Est 1530, (possibly), Stokeinteignhead, Devon, England , bur. 12 May 1603, St. Andrew’s Church, Stokeinteignhead, Devon, England (Age ~ 73 years) (3 x Great Grandfather)
Mary, b. Est 1662, bur. 28 Feb 1716/17, St. Gregory the Great’s Church, Dawlish, Devon, England (Age ~ 55 years) (Mother)Notes - Usually the name Jacob is found where records are in Latin and being the Latin equivalent of James it is reasonable to supposed a person would have been known as James. Here, though, Jacob is found in English records, but his name was recorded as 'James' when his son was baptised, so what he would actually have been known as is not clear.

Father Robert GOTHAM, bap. 17 Dec 1660, St. Gregory the Great’s Church, Dawlish, Devon, England , bur. 24 Feb 1738/39, St. Gregory the Great’s Church, Dawlish, Devon, England (Age ~ 78 years) Mother Mary, b. Est 1662, bur. 28 Feb 1716/17, St. Gregory the Great’s Church, Dawlish, Devon, England (Age ~ 55 years) Married - ** At present I have no firm evidence that Mary was Robert's wife **
However:
Three Gothams were buried in Dawlish in a short space of time: Mary on 28 Feb, Thomas on 9 Mar and William on 20 Mar 1716/7. It seems probable they died of an infectious disease which passed from one to another in the home.
There only appears to have been the one Gotham family living in Dawlish, Robert and his family. William and Thomas fit as two of his sons, but who was Mary? Could have been a daughter for whom a baptism record is missing or mis-indexed, or, more likely, his wife, who is not named in the baptism records of Robert's children.
Unfortunately, as well as not naming mothers the burial records in the parish at this time contain no additional information ('wife of', 'son of' etc.)
Adding weight to the theory she was Robert's wife, I have not found the burial of any one else in Dawlish who could be Robert's wife or widow.
