"May 21st. 1738 John Gotham was buried."
No entries on the page have any relationship shown, so from the PR alone this entry could be John's infant son. However, a grant of administration was made for the estate of a John Gotham of East Ogwell in 1738, so it would appear the burial was not of an infant / child and probably this John.

    Notes
    • It seems most likely that the John baptised in East Ogwell in 1737, son of a John and Elizabeth, was the son of a John with known links to that parish.
However, there were two Johns who fit the bill: this one and the son of Humprey and Sybilla.
      * I may well have linked up Johns and Elizabeths and their children wrongly *
What I show is my best guess. If this John was the father of the children baptised in Denbury in the period 1726-1730 he would have become a father aged only about 19. This would have been unusual; it seems far more likely to have been an older John.
I do think it likely, though, that he was the John who married in Ipplepen in 1736. There are no children of that couple there; John appears to be have been 'of' Ipplepen when he married, probably because when he was 4 his mother remarried and her second husband lived in Ipplepen. However, on setting up home he may have done so in East Ogwell and so it is quite feasible that any children would have been baptised there. There seems to be only the one who could be theirs. That there were no more children is probably explained by the burial of an Elizabeth Gotham in Ipplepen in January 1737/8, most likely John's wife. In any case it appears that John probably died just a few months later, in May 1738.
