      Bride is shown as Sarah Dalman, full age, spinster, but her father as William Edgeley, labourer. Sarah made her mark so can't be certain she was not Sarah Dalman EDGELEY; William was not a witness so can't be sure he wasn't William Edgeley DALMAN.

      The priest seems particularly poor at record keeping, because whilst he recorded the bride as 'Hannah Gotham' in the banns he recorded her as 'Daniel Gotham' in the marriage register!

      Hannah seems to have separated from her first husband, Thomas Pugh, as at the time of the 1881 census she was shown as married, but head of the household, Thomas not being present. However, with her and her daughter was a lodger - William Davies. Perhaps Thomas had died by 1885, allowing William and Hannah to marry, though she would have been expected to have remarried as Hannah PUGH, not Hannah Pugh GOTHEN. With a name as common as Thomas PUGH it is hard to know.
