Name Rose [1] Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Est 1595 - Rough estimate, I am guessing that marrying a widower older than the average groom but Rose was young enough to have children up to 1635.
Could have been born any time c. 1585-1610.
Gender Female Died Aft 1646 Person ID I8879 All | Teresa's direct ancestors Last Modified 19 Nov 2022
Family Samuel DE FARVAQUES, b. Est 1581, Leyden, Netherlands , d. 25 Aug 1637, Canterbury, Kent, England (Age ~ 56 years)
Other Partners: Judith BOULENGER m. 30 Jul 1609Married Abt 1624 - If I am right, that Samuel married Judith and then after Judith died, in Dec 1623, Samuel married Rose, then given that the 1st child of Samuel and Rose was baptised in April 1625, the marriage was more-or-less certainly in 1624.
A son died in 1636 but I don't know which one:
"Août 21 Le fils de Samuel FARUAQUES." [2]

Samuel was described as the brother-in-law of Elizabeth du Bois in the marriage contract was drawn up for her marriage to Jean Cricqueré. (Hovenden p.694)
Since his first wife's surname was not du Bois this suggests Rose's might have been.
BUT could he be a half brother-in-law through his first marriage? - Elizabeth was first married to Paul Picart, and Paul and Elizabeth were godparents to Jahel, Samuel's daughter by his first marriage, and there were several other instances of the du Bois and de Farvques being godparents to one another's children during his first marriage, not his second.
I did conclude that Rose was probably NOT a 'du Bois'. However, an atDNA test shows that I share a small amount of DNA with a descendant of the above Elizabeth's neice, Esther / Hester du Bois. Reading anything into shared DNA with a link so far back must be done with caution: it could well be due to 'pedigree collapse' i.e we have so many ancestors living usually in the same area that there are likely to be several ways in which we are related to the same people. In this case though the DNA Esther had was probably not shared by the indigenous population; her family had not been in England long and I don't think would have assimilated. Esther returned to the Netherlands; what became of other members of her family? Did they remain in the Canterbury area, might I be descended from one of them through another branch of the tree? I don't know. I do think this DNA match does increase the liklihood that Rose was a du Bois, though it certainly doesn't prove it. - [S44] Walloon Church, Canterbury, Kent - Parish Registers - Hovenden, Robert Hovenden F.S.A., editor, (Lymington, Hampshire: Huguenot Society of London, 1891-1898.), 587.
