It probably says Gothan and an 'h' was mistead as 'ti' by the transcriber.) According to the 1911 census John and Mary had been married for 21 years Details from PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 14 Feb 2017) (Archive reference: D4904/1/25, p. 31) The 1901 John and Mary had 'THOMAS' brothers-in-law living with them; single, they were clearly Thomas's wife's brothers not his sisters' husbands - hence Mary Jane confirmed as a THOMAS. The 1911 census shows John and Mary had had 3 children, one of whom had died.
