  • Name Eame GOATHAM
    Relationshipwith Teresa Ann GOATHAM
Baptised 29 Jan 1726/27  All Saints’ Church, Whitstable, Kent, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 3 Feb 2013):
"Eame the Daughter of Michall and Elizth Goatham was Baptized January the 29th"
    Gender Female
Buried 20 Mar 1727/28  All Saints’ Church, Whitstable, Kent, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • An Ame Goatham described as an infant was buried in 1727/8, but also an Eamy described as a maid in 1741; either could refer to this Eame, but I think it most likely this one, and that Michael and Elizabeth then gave the name to another daughter.

From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 3 Feb 2013)
"Ame goatham Infante march the 20th"
[not certain about 20th, not clear. Also, the entry was inserted between entries in December and February, presumbaly not entered on day of event, so more likely to have an error]
Siblings 3 brothers and 4 sisters
    Patriarch & Matriarch
GOATHAM,   d. Yes, date unknown  (4 x Great Grandfather)
Ann MILLS,   b. Abt 1603,   d. Yes, date unknown  (2 x Great Grandmother)
    Notes
    • I am not clear about the Christian name. The KFHS has transcribed it as Eame (but the no. of errors suggests the transcriber was not an expert at transcribing). The last letter or half letter is unlike any other 'e' - but I can't find any other example of the shape.
Other possibilities are Eanis, Eanv. Given the number of Dutch in Whitstable I have looked through Dutch names but not found anything to match or that it is obvious could be phonetically spelt as appears in the register. A lot of Dutch female names have 'j' so it may be Eanjs or Earjv or similar ('i's and 'j's being written the same at this time.
